Miranda Lowe

Miranda joined Jewitt McLuckie and Associates as an articling student in the summer of 2024 after earning her Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa. Miranda’s interest in law is driven by her passion for human rights. She is proud to be completing her articles while advocating for the interests of employees and unions.

During law school, Miranda demonstrated her commitment to access to justice by providing high school students with workshops on sexual harassment in the workplace and bystander intervention through Pro Bono Students Canada. She also strengthened her advocacy skills through an internship and fellowship with the Ticket Defence Program, where she represented street-involved individuals facing tickets for poverty-related offences.

Miranda competed in the Walsh Family Law Moot, where her team won second-best overall team for their oral and written advocacy. In addition, she served as a legal writing leader, tutoring first-year law students, and worked as a research assistant focusing on family and surrogacy law.

Before pursuing her JD, Miranda graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Human Rights and Social Justice from Carleton University, where she received a research grant to study the participation of marginalized groups in the development of international law and policy, igniting her passion for democratic participation and its intersection with the labour movement.

Her dedication to human rights extends beyond her academic pursuits. Before her undergraduate studies, Miranda volunteered in refugee camps across Europe and cofounded an NGO in Belgrade, Serbia.

In her spare time, Miranda enjoys hiking, board games and playing with mud in her pottery studio.
