André was born in Ottawa where he was raised in a bilingual family. André received his JD from Dalhousie University in 2022. Prior to attending law school, André completed his undergraduate education at Bishops University, where he received an honours degree in International Relations.
Developing the skills to advocate for clients has been the driving force behind André’s legal education. While at Dalhousie, André spent his first year helping residents of Halifax protect their legal entitlements through the Dalhousie Tenants Rights Program. Following this, André helped revive and served as coordinator for a Pro Bono project which provides legal information and representation to individuals bringing appeals before the Nova Scotia Labour Relations Board.
André gained first-hand exposure to labour law while working for the legal department of the Halifax International Airport Authority during the first COVID-19 lockdown. In this role, André witnessed the complex working relationships that exist between Unions, Employers and Workers when tasked with finding solutions to difficult problems. André was able to build on this experience while employed with the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society, where he reviewed and updated operational policies to ensure the Society retains its reputation as a leader in ethical employment.
At Dalhousie André also developed his written advocacy skills. He took first place in the Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies 2021-2022 Academic Think Tank for his research which highlights the legal and practical barriers to collective bargaining for workers in the gig-economy.
André was thrilled to join the Jewitt McLuckie team in 2023 after the conclusion of his articles with the firm. He is pleased to be able to offer his legal services in both English and in French.
